I’m spending today and tomorrow at “Moonlight and Magnolias,” the Georgia Romance Writers annual conference. I learn so much from the speakers and the other writers, that I can hardly imagine missing it.
One of the greatest things about hanging out with these other writers is the camaraderie. I was talking to another attendee about her book, and she dropped her head, looked sideways at me and murmured, “She [her main character] was abducted by aliens.” I was so excited I grabbed her arm and said “Oh my God! I so get it! In my first book, Soul Lost, my character time travels with a wizard.” I always say that phrase with the same hesitation and apology that I saw in her.
Sometimes it really helps to be with someone who understands.
