This is my third shot at NaNoWriMo. First year I started Nick, wrote 10,000 words, then got busy with life. I did finish Nick, however, and so I consider that first, concentrated push the true reason that book got written. Last year’s only got to 4000 words and remains primarily in my mind, but it waits there to be finished as soon as I can get to it.
This year, instead of going back to finish last year’s project, I am working on the sequel to The People of the Green Hills, The Bend of the River. I’m 5200 words so far, and following my original plan for 1000 words a day. I’m pulling my son along for the ride; he’s 2700 words in on his novel.
Good luck to everyone trying it. I’ll see you on the other side!
